A range of scholarships are available for eligible applicants.

Postgraduate Masters Scholarship Scheme 2016 - EU students

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the award of the scholarship, students must:

  •  Be accepted onto a Fulltime Taught Masters programme for the academic year 2016/17 and,
  • Have attained a first class honours primary degree (level 8) or equivalent

International Student Scholarships

Twenty Five Postgraduate Merit Scholarships, comprising a partial fee waiver (value: €2,750), are available to international students.

School of Humanities Scholarships

Postgraduate Masters Scholarship Scheme 2016 - School of Humanities

These scholarships are available on full-time taught courses and are open to EU Students.

A Scholarship is tenable only at National University of Ireland, Galway in respect of the programme for which it is offered. It may not be transferred to any other programme. The Scholarship is only available in the year in which it is offered. It may not be deferred.

Principle

The School of Humanities, NUI Galway has established a Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme to support and facilitate students wishing to register for selected Fulltime Taught Masters programme within the School of Humanities (see lists of programmes below) in the academic year 2016/17. A maximum of 2 scholarships will be offered in any one programme.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the award of a scholarship, students must:

• Be accepted onto one of the Fulltime Taught Masters programmes listed below for the academic year 2016/17

And

• Have a minimum 2.1 primary or secondary degree or its equivalent

And

• Not be in receipt of scholarships under the NUIG, Fulltime Taught Postgraduate Masters Scholarship Scheme 2016

Basis of Award

Scholarships will be awarded to the top 20 students who meet the eligibility criteria set out above, while no more than 2 awards will be made for any one of the programmes listed below.

 Value

 The total value of the Scholarship will be €1,500 each

Tenure

A Scholarship is tenable only at National University of Ireland, Galway in respect of the programme for which it is offered. It may not be transferred to any other programme. The Scholarship is only available in the year in which it is offered. It may not be deferred.

 

Condition of Award

 

To register as a student of the University on the programme in respect of which the Scholarship is being awarded, by the due registration date. Failure to complete the registration requirement by the due date may render the student ineligible for the award without further notice.

The individual in receipt of the Scholarship must be attending the programme on a fulltime basis.

If the holder withdraws from the programme for which she/he has registered or fails to continue throughout the session to meet the attendance and other requirements of the programme, she/he will forfeit the Scholarship and may be required to repay to the University the whole or any part of the Scholarship as may be decided.

 Application Procedure

 

All applicants are required who have received and accepted an offer on a Fulltime Taught Postgraduate Masters programme listed below prior Friday, 5th August 2016 will be considered for an award. Applications received after that date will not be considered.

Nature of Award

The award will take the form of a fee reduction in the first instance, or in some cases a cheque maybe issued where applicable, to the value of €1,500.

The judges' decision is final and that the award will only be made to applicants who have registered in the programme for which the award is made.
